Castle of Schieder with its baroque garden
A baroque jewel is the old summer residence of the rulers of Lippe back in the days. Hidden in between tall trees it lies, this special gem of baroque architecture and masterpiece of landscape design in Lippe: the castle of Schieder and its park. The baroque castle was built in 1706 by Count Casimir of Lippe and his son Rudolf. Along with the extensive park it still bears evidence of the aristocratic living culture. The park is one of the most beautiful landscape gardens in our region and invites you to take relaxing walks or to just linger on one of the many benches. Guests can undertake a journey through time from the 18th century of the baroque garden to the 19th century of the English landscape garden. In 2009 the baroque area of the palace garden with staircases and cascades was restored after extensive reconstruction.
